2020 Best Actor Oscar Contenders and Predictions

Best Picture will be tough, but there is no category seemingly as competitive this Oscar season as Best Actor. Even trying to widdle down the lengthy list of potential nominees to 10 key players is difficult at this juncture. At Cannes, the love for “Pain and Glory’s” Antonio Banderas was strong, but even Sony Classics must know he’s not a lock for a nomination. There is simply too much at play. Granted, decisions have not been made whether Brad Pitt and Leonardo DiCaprio will both campaign as lead actor for “Once Upon A Time In Hollywood,” its hard to imagine a second actor being nominated for playing The Joker (winner Heath Ledger being the first) and Netflix has five, yes, five contenders on this list to deal with. Oh, and there’s always the late arrival from the fall festivals that might crash the party. It’s going to be a wild ride. [Posted July 2]
