Kevin Feige Explains Why Nick Fury Didn’t Use The Captain Marvel Beeper Until ‘Infinity War’
**Slight spoilers for “Captain Marvel” ahead**
When the Marvel Cinematic Universe introduced “The Avengers” to the world, Marvel Studios had to answer the same question over and over again, when subsequent solo superhero films were released – “Why didn’t [insert superhero] just call the Avengers?” It was even made into a joke in the first “Ant-Man” film. Now, in a post-”Captain Marvel” world, the question has changed to “Why didn’t Nick Fury use that damn beeper before ‘Infinity War?’” Well, the Marvel Studios boss himself, Kevin Feige, has an answer…sort of.

In an interview with SlashFilm, Feige was asked that exact question. And his response is just as informative, but mysterious, as any other Kevin Feige answer.
“Well, I’d say two things. One, she does say it’s gotta be a real emergency, right? Yeah,” answered the Marvel Studios president. “The other thing I’d say is how do you know he never hit it? How do we know he never pushed it before? We’ve never seen him push it before. That doesn’t mean he never did.”
Okay, so either Nick Fury was waiting until people turned to dust all around him to call Carol Danvers or maybe he did all the time and he’s just ignored? Not the best answers ever, but alas, we have to use the suspension of disbelief quite a bit when we talk about superheroes and whatnot.

This segues quite nicely into a bit of news surrounding “Avengers: Endgame”…
**REAL SPOILERS for “Captain Marvel” & “Avengers: Endgame” ahead**
**For real**
**If you want to go into ‘Endgame’ cold, then don’t read this**
**You’ve been warned**
For those that have seen “Captain Marvel,” and thus the mid-credits extra scene, you know that the Avengers are in possession of the aforementioned beeper and have been using it to reach out to whoever is out there. Of course, the scene ends with Captain Marvel showing up, in a new suit no less, asking, “Where’s Nick Fury?”
Well, in a recent Disney investors conference, an extended version of that scene was shown. And in it, we see the way that the Avengers, specifically War Machine and Thor, react to Carol Danvers very dramatic entrance.
Here’s a description of the footage:
The Avengers Endgame scene they showed was at Avengers HQ, Captain Marvel saying let's go kill Tanos. Nebula says she knows where he is. Rocket says biggest energy surge ever seen on Earth when he used the glove, but it was seen again on another planet shortly after.

So that's where Thanos is retiring to. Quick exchange between CapA, Natasha, Bruce, Rhodey, and CapM. Bruce asks what guarantee the ey have this ends differently. Cap M says they have her this time.

Rhodey asks where she was because they could have used her before. Cap M says a lot of other planets out there need help and they don't have Avengers like Earth has. Thor gets up from sitting quietly in back, walks up to Cap M, and summons his axe…

Which whizzes right past Cap M (she doesn't flinch) into his hand and he says "I like this one." Cut to Milano, everybody buckled in, Cap M in copilot seat.

Rocket asks who hasn't been to space, Cap A, Rhodey, Natasha raise hands, and Rocket warns them not to puke in his ship and off they go. Cool refection of stars and space stuff on Cap A's eye as we zoom in on him and they warp out of there.

It’ll be interesting to see how much of this is shown before ‘Endgame’ hits theaters. Will the box office success of “Captain Marvel” mean that Marvel Studios will want to show fans that she shows up in ‘Endgame’ through a new trailer? We shall see.
“Avengers: Endgame” hits theaters on April 26. “Captain Marvel” is in theaters now.
