Variety is reporting that Elizabeth Debicki has signed on to co-star in Nolan’s upcoming film that is being described as an “event” movie, whatever that means. Obviously, the filmmaker only makes projects that demand big screen viewing, due to his penchant for incredible action and epic shots. So, the real question is when the last time Nolan made a film that can’t be described as an “event?”

Debicki has really come into her own in recent years. After breaking out as part of Baz Luhrmann’sThe Great Gatsby,” the actress transitioned into the action realm with appearances in “The Man from U.N.C.L.E.,” “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2,” and last year’s “Widows.” Oh yeah, and she also starred in one of the best limited series of the last 5 years, with “The Night Manager.” It appears that Debicki is on the edge of superstardom, and who better than Nolan to usher that in for her?

Debicki recently wrapped up production on the highly-anticipated TV series “Lovecraft Country,” from producer Jordan Peele, and is ready to begin work on the Nolan film. The untitled film is set to begin production shortly and is expected to hit theaters in summer 2020.

She joins the aforementioned Washington and Pattinson in the cast, which is still reportedly on the lookout for an older actor to round out the main cast. We expect that an announcement should be coming shortly, as the hype train is leaving the station now.

Nolan’s next film will hit theaters on July 17, 2020.
