‘Dora And The Lost City Of Gold’ Trailer: Dora The Explorer Adapts To 2019 Teen Culture & Brings Knives To School
If you’re over the age of 5 and don’t have any children, odds are you’re probably not very familiar with the cartoon “Dora the Explorer.” However, if you are under 5 or have young children, then you’ve definitely experienced the children’s cartoon that attempts to use an adorable little girl and her friends to help kids learn and speak Spanish. And if that doesn’t sound like the makings of a good movie, then don’t worry, that’s not the film that Paramount is interested in making with “Dora and the Lost City of Gold.”
As seen in the first trailer for the ‘Dora’ adaptation, the young adventurer has morphed into a teenager, who is attempting to assimilate in 2019 teen culture after growing up in “the jungle.” Of course, that would also make a fairly boring film, so the plot somehow puts Dora and her new teen friends (including her cousin Diego) back in the jungle, with the mission of saving her parents and learning more about the titular lost city. And for the purists out there, she definitely has her pet monkey, who is inexplicably voiced by Danny Trejo in the film. Go figure.

The cast for the film includes Isabela Moner, Eugenio Derbez, Michael Peña, Eva Longoria, Adriana Barraza, Temuera Morrison, Jeff Wahlberg, Nicholas Coombe, Madeleine Madden, and Danny Trejo.
“Dora and the Lost City of Gold” hits theaters on August 2.
Here’s the synopsis:
Having spent most of her life exploring the jungle with her parents, nothing could prepare Dora (Isabela Moner) for her most dangerous adventure ever – High School. Always the explorer, Dora quickly finds herself leading Boots (her best friend, a monkey), Diego (Jeffrey Wahlberg), a mysterious jungle inhabitant (Eugenio Derbez), and a ragtag group of teens on a live-action adventure to save her parents (Eva Longoria, Michael Peña) and solve the impossible mystery behind a lost city of gold.
