Melissa McCarthy Fully Supports Jason Reitman & His ‘Ghostbusters’ Sequel: “I’m All For It”

We have reached the point where it would seem that any potential candidate running for President of the United States in 2020 is going to have to add “Ghostbusters Stance” to their political agenda. Like it or not, the most polarizing news item in the film industry right now seems to be the upcoming Jason Reitman-helmed “Ghostbusters” sequel. And while we really don’t have any clue what to expect from the film, it’s expected by now that you have already made up your mind about it. So, where do you stand? Huh? Speak up! Well, for Melissa McCarthy, she’s made her thoughts known, and unsurprisingly, she was sweet, calm, and fair about what she believes. Therefore, we must hate her.

Speaking to ET, the Academy Award-nominated actress was asked her thoughts about the upcoming “Ghostbusters” sequel, considering she was part of the 2016 “Ghostbusters: Answer the Call,” which is seemingly being forgotten moving forward. Unlike Leslie Jones, who didn’t mince words with her dislike of the sequel idea, McCarthy seems to not only be okay with the new film, but welcomes any film that Reitman wants to helm.

“I’m for anybody who’s making movies. I talked to Jason about it, he’s just always had this idea, and his goes back to the world where the guys did exist and I’m like, ‘I want to see that,'” McCarthy said. “I’m all for it. I say like, ‘Tell the story.'”

She continued, “I think there’s a million stories to be told. He’s a really, really good filmmaker and a really good storyteller, so I will be there buying my ticket. I’m all for it.”

How will social media react to one of the *GASP* female Ghostbusters being excited about the classic universe getting a sequel? How can men around Twitter get upset when McCarthy not only says she’s “all for” the sequel but also compliments Reitman, who is the son of the original film’s director? No doubt, people will find a way to get angered and argue endlessly. We can already smell the misogynist gifs from here.

Now, the ball is in your court Bernie Sanders? What are your thoughts on “Ghostbusters 3?” Huh? We’re waiting! I mean, we can already guess what side of “Ghostbusters” history Trump will be on, right?
