‘Green Book’ Wins Best Picture And The Complete 2019 Oscars Winner List

Updated: That’s a wrap on the Oscars. The 91st Academy Awards came and went and buzzed by at a nice 3 hours and 15 minutes, who needs a host? “Bohemian Rhapsody” walked away with the most Oscar wins, four, including Best Actor for Rami Malek, but it was “Green Book” that took home the top prize. Netflix‘s “Roma” did very well for itself too, winning Best Director for Alfonso Cuaron, Best Foreign Language Film, Best Cinematography and it looked like it was going to take it all there for a moment. But “Green Book” also took the coveted prize for Best Original Screenplay and the controversial Peter Farrelly-directed feel-good story, that also won the coveted TIFF Audience Award (often a strong Best Picture augur), took home the final Best Picture prize. More analysis and recaps in the morning, thanks for tuning in tonight.

EARLIER: The Oscars, the 91st Academy Awards are finally here. After months of industry and Academy frustration, decision back-footing, and scandal, the host-less telecast will feature all 24 categories with the possibility of history being made. “Roma” and “The Favourite” lead all films with 10 Oscar nominations each.

Legendary actress Glenn Close could win her first Oscar with her seventh nomination, from her performance in “The Wife.” But surprises could be in store if BAFTA winner Olivia Colman rules the evening for her performance as Queen Anne of England, in “The Favourite.” Director Alfonso Cuarón is no stranger to the Oscar stage and could win more trophies for his deeply personal film, “Roma.” The Netflix film has the opportunity to take both Best Foreign Language Film and Best Picture, which would be a first.

The Academy has been working on this year’s telecast sans host and putting together a program that will see four of the five Best Original Song nominees perform live. Of those artists, Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper (minus the Jackson Maine verve) will perform “Shallow” live, while two-time Oscar-nominee Bette Midler will be on hand to sing the nominated song “The Place Where Lost Things Go” from “Mary Poppins Returns.” Sadly, due to a scheduling conflict, Kendrick Lamar and SZA will not be able to perform the nominated song “All the Stars” from the Marvel Studios film “Black Panther.”

It has been an unpredictable awards season and we can surely expect some surprises at this evening’s ceremony. Check back here to see the list updated as winners are announced.
