U.S. Homeland Security Recruitment Post Answered With Red Dead Redemption Jokes

Sometimes people can find humor in the most unlikely of places. One such place is the ad from the Department of Homeland Security for more border patrol enforcers. The ad, however, was taken over with jokes about Red Dead Redemption.

There's a Reddit post over on the Red Dead Redemption sub-reddit, which has a screen capture from a Facebook post from the Department of Homeland Security. The post from the DOHS was for recruiting people for border patrol. However, the image that the Facebook page chose to use for the recruitment ad featured six riders on horseback moseying slowly down a trail out in the plains while the sun artistically looms just over the treeline, creating a look that appears as if it came right out of Rockstar Games' Red Dead Redemption 2.

It's not hard to see why people thought it looked like Red Dead, and it didn't take long for people to start hopping into the comment section and making jokes about the open-world Western game.

The post starts with people quipping about how they thought the image looked like Red Dead Redemption 2. But further down we see people quoting infamous lines from the game, with some people attempting to put dialogue to the caption, including lines like "Ahh come on Dutch, we can't keep doing this," or "I have a plan! Have some faith, people."

One user joked about joining the border patrol, saying "Alright boys... first mission.. find o'Driscolls..."

A few others joked that this was the reason they couldn't travel to Mexico in Red Dead Redemption 2's online multiplayer mode, where the region is blocked off.

Technically, attempting to tie border patrol recruitment with Rockstar Games' Wild West shooter wouldn't be a bad idea. The game gives players an opportunity to experience the end of the Wild West era as part of the Van der Linde gang. Players assume the role of Arthur Morgan, a gang member with a heart of gold.

Much like the previous Red Dead Redemption, players have the opportunity to complete missions, go hunting, go fishing, camp out in the wilderness, or engage in gunfights against other bandits and law enforcers.

Rockstar is also positioning Red Dead Redemption 2's online mode to take over where GTA V's online might be waning in popularity. It makes sense given that GTA V is already more than five years old at this point, so something new was bound to take its place.

I imagine that we'll continue to see people make jest of any photo, video, or ad that in any way resembles Red Dead Redemption 2, as evident with the Department of Homeland recruitment ad for border patrol.
