The Walking Dead: The Final Season Episode 3 Has A Release Date And A New Trailer

Clementine's story of survival within the world of The Walking Dead will continue this month as Skybound Entertainment releases the trailer for "Broken Toys," the third chapter in the series' final season. Considering what it took for this game to get its conclusion, it's pretty exciting to finally see the plot get rolling once again. Check out the trailer below.

If you're looking to dive into this third chapter in the series' final season, you don't have very long to wait. Broken Toys is set to go live on Jan. 15, and then we'll be left with just one final tale to be told before the whole thing wraps up.

Broken Toys picks up right where Suffer the Children left off as Clementine and her crew continue the search for their kidnapped friends. These details are covered in the trailer, so no cries of "spoiler," please. We get a brief look at Clem torturing a dude for answers and then some rather dramatic hints at major plot developments and even a rad-looking scene where some clever tactics have to be utilized to infiltrate a post-apocalyptic fortress. It looks like the build-up to an impressive battle, which sure makes it look like the series is going to end with a bang.

As a reminder, the four previous seasons of The Walking Dead are once again available on digital storefronts including Xbox Live Marketplace, PlayStation Network, Nintendo Switch eShop and the Epic Store. They disappeared following the Telltale closure and subsequent shakeup, but apparently, all of the licensing issues have since been worked out. As for the final chapter of this final season, we imagine it will take at least a few months for Skyfall to pull things together but, again, a little extra wait is worth it considering the alternative.

That's because the studio originally responsible for The Walking Dead, Telltale Games, was closed rather abruptly last fall. Things seemed to be going well for the studio before, in rapid succession, the majority of employees were fired without severance, all but one project was canceled and, ultimately, the doors were totally closed.

The wildest part is that this all happened less than a week before the second chapter of the four-part Walking Dead series finale launched, with the studio announcing that the second chapter would be released as planned but, after that, the studio was done. They kept enough folks on to finish a Minecraft project for Netflix and then that was all she wrote.

Thankfully, Skybound swooped in to grab as many former Telltale employees as they could manage and put them back to work on finishing the series. Hopefully, they'll get to stick around and tackle additional projects when The Walking Dead concludes but, if nothing else, at least those folks get to see their game reach its conclusion.
