Greenberg Glusker Ups Entertainment Lawyers Sally James & Mark Muir To Partners

The big table at one of Hollywood’s biggest law firms just got a little bigger with Greenberg Glusker promoting Sally James and Mark Muir to partners.

“We are pleased to elevate these four attorneys and welcome them to the firm’s partnership,” said Greenberg’s Managing Partner Bob Baradaran said in a statement on the advancement of the Entertainment Group’s James and Muir, along with estate planning lawyer Brian D. Berman and business lawyer Lori L. Werderitch. “Each one exemplifies the qualities of character and the commitment to client service that are the hallmark of our firm’s brand.”

The realm of superlawyers Bert Fields, Bonnie Eskenazi, Schuyler “Sky” Moore and Matt Galsor, GG’s Hollywood division has had a piece in most of the biggest deals and financing arrangements in town over the decades. The Galsor headed Entertainment Group also directly represents the likes of Tom Cruise, James Cameron, David Fincher, the Tolkien estate, Ready Player One producer Dan Farah, and Vin Diesel, to name a few.

Praised as “an up and coming Hollywood deal maker,” on the Century City firm’s website, James covers the gamut of the industry from talent, the intricate world of film, financing and taxes as well as M&A transactions. A summer associate at Greenberg Glusker back in 2007, UCLA Law School grad James joined the firm in July 2017 along with Moore after nearly a decade at Stroock & Stroock & Lavan LLP.

After three years as in-house counsel for Gersh, Muir shifted over to Greenberg Glusker in August 2013, specializing in rights, options, production and distribution for his clients in the big and small screen industries. Unlike many attorneys, UCLA and UC Hastings grad Muir has a particularly close perspective on the business for his clients. From 2003 to 2006, Muir was in the trenches as as a producer on ABC’s Extreme Makeover.

Along with colleagues Berman and Werderitch, James and Muir were formally made partners at the beginning of this year.
