Broadway Legend Carol Channing Dies At 97
Beyond her work in Hello, Dolly!, however, Carol Channing is also remembered for her role in the Broadway musical, Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, and she ultimately lost the role in the film adaptation to Marilyn Monroe. She was also well-known and (rightfully) acclaimed for her work in Thoroughly Modern Millie, the 1967 film adaptation, where she played the role of Muzzy Van Hossmere. She received a Golden Globe award for her performance. She was also nominated for an Academy Award as well. For film lovers, particularly those who might not have seen her role in Hello, Dolly!, there is reason to believe that this performance was her most iconic. Indeed, between her work on the stage and on the screen, everyone can remember a part.
