Aaron Sorkin Admits Interest In ‘Social Network’ Sequel & Says There’s Plenty To Cover
There aren’t very many instances where a biopic gets a sequel, but in the case of “The Social Network,” it would appear that we are looking at a situation that might warrant one.
Released in 2010, “The Social Network” told the story of the early days of Facebook and its creator Mark Zuckerberg. And in focusing on the early days, the film came to a conclusion that might be viewed as a bit premature. Sure, the film was great and ended in a perfectly fine way, but with the recent news (mostly negative) surrounding the social media network, there seems to be plenty of fodder for a sequel. And writer Aaron Sorkin knows this.

Speaking to the AP, Sorkin was asked about the idea of a sequel to the David Fincher-directed film. He admits that he doesn’t have the same inside information he used to, but clearly states that there’s plenty in the news to work from.
“First of all, I know a lot more about Facebook in 2005 than I do in 2018, but I know enough to know that there should be a sequel,” said Sorkin,
He continued, “A lot of very interesting, dramatic stuff has happened since the movie ends with settling the lawsuit from the Winklevoss Twins and Eduardo Saverin…I’ve gotten more than one email from [producer Scott Rudin] with an article attached saying, ‘Isn’t it time for a sequel?’”

With Fincher juggling the second season of “Mindhunter” and a sequel to “World War Z,” it would appear that he has quite a bit on his plate already. And in Sorkin’s case, even though he made his directorial debut recently with “Molly’s Game,” he seems to be busy with his Broadway adaptation of “To Kill A Mockingbird.”
But crazier things have happened. And in the case of “The Social Network,” we’re sure film fans would be anxious to see what Fincher, Sorkin, and the rest of the cast and crew would have to say about the current state of Facebook affairs.
