Former Imagine Entertainment CEO Charlie Corwin Joins Uproxx Advisory Board

Entertainment industry veteran Charlie Corwin has joined the advisory board of Uproxx, a digital publisher of entertainment and pop culture news that was acquired by Warner Music Group.

Corwin is the first member of the newly created advisory board, which will help guide Uproxx as it dives more deeply into film, TV, and advertising. He most recently CEO of Imagine Entertainment, founded by Brian Grazer and Ron Howard.

Before that, Corwin was co-chairman and CEO of Endemol Shine Americas, overseeing the merger and integration of Endemol and Shine in North and South America. He began his career as a co-founder of the internet startup Live Music Channel, a pioneer in video streaming, and later launched the movie and television production company Original Media.

“Charlie has been at the helm of some of the biggest brands in entertainment and is a known innovator,” said UPROXX CEO Benjamin Blank in a statement. “We’re now living in an era when more traditional platforms must merge with new ones. As such, it’s critical to have leaders who can see three or four moves ahead. Charlie is one of those people, and we’re thrilled to have him as part of our team.”

Warner Music acquired the youth-centric digital media company in August, noting its reach to more than 40 million people across the web, Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat, Instagram and YouTube. At the time of the deal, Warner Music’s CEO of recorded music, Max Lousada, said the combined companies would work to create new ways to reach young consumers.

“In the always-on, attention economy, it’s not enough to simply deliver amazing music to the world. We aim to tell engaging and original stories that influence culture,” Lousada said at the time the acquisition was announced.
