‘Brooklyn Nine-Nine’ Channels ‘Law & Order’ In New Promo For Its NBC Debut

“On the streets of the city, there are those who commit crimes and there are those who stop them.” Sounds like the serious, sober opening for a Dick Wolf police procedural, right? No, NBC marketers would tell you, but thanks for playing our game.

Ripped from the headlines — or, rather, the opening titles of a Law & Order episode — comes a new promo for Brooklyn Nine-Nine, the Andy Samberg-fronted comedy that’s moving to the Peacock Precinct next month after five seasons on Fox. Disguised as L&O: NYPD, it features the whole crew as they overpack for a bust, roust an MSNBC host and turn an head-casted guy’s frown upside down.

The theme song is there, the font is there — but where’s the dun-DUN!?

Created by Dan Goor and Michael Schur, the law-and-disorder comedy also stars Melissa Fumero, Joe Lo Truglio, Stephanie Beatriz, Terry Crews, Joel McKinnon Miller, Dirk Blocker and Andre Braugher. Original series regular Chelsea Peretti announced in October that she won’t be doing a full season as sardonic, self-obsessed administrative assistant Gina.

Season 6 of Brooklyn Nine-Nine launches at 9 p.m. Thursday, January 10. Watch it with someone you’d like to have thrown in jail.
