‘Black Monday’: Showtime Offers Timely Free Sampling of Wall Street Comedy Premiere Amid Stock Market’s Wild Ride
Showtime is offering early free sampling of the premiere episode of its Wall Street comedy Black Monday, a co-production between Showtime and Sony Pictures TV, across multiple platforms. The first episode is available for free now on YouTube, Facebook and SHO.com ahead of the 10-episode series premiere on Sunday, January 20.
Created by David Caspe (Happy Endings) and Jordan Cahan (My Best Friend’s Girl), Black Monday, starring Don Cheadle, Andrew Rannells and Regina Hall, takes viewers back to October 19, 1987 – aka Black Monday, the worst stock market crash in the history of Wall Street. To this day, no one knows who “caused it” … until now. It’s the story of how a group of outsiders took on the blue-blood, old-boys club of Wall Street and ended up crashing the world’s largest financial system, a Lamborghini limousine and the glass ceiling.
The release is timely given the wild ups and (mostly) downs of the stock market in recent days and weeks.
The episode is also available across multiple television and streaming providers’ devices, websites, applications and authenticated online services and their free On Demand channels. In addition, the series premiere episode is available for free on the Showtime stand-alone service’s website http://www.showtime.com.
Caspe and Cahan also executive produce and showrun. Emmy nominees Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg (Preacher, Superbad, Future Man) are executive producers and directed the pilot.
