‘Black Mirror’ “Choose Your Own Adventure” Episode Is Coming This Week With Over 5 Hours Of Footage
We may all be experiencing a bit of holiday hangover, as the long weekend saw many of us visiting extended family, eating lots of food, and awkwardly side-stepping political conversations with that family member. But with that in our rearview mirror, it’s time to look ahead to this coming weekend and the late Christmas gift that Netflix is expected to bestow upon its sci-fi/dystopian future-loving crowd, “Black Mirror: Bandersnatch.”
As has been previously reported, ‘Bandernatch’ is expected to release on December 28, and with it, Netflix’s latest attempt to draw curious viewers to the ‘Black Mirror’ universe. How will the streaming service attempt to reignite interest in the critically-acclaimed and popular anthology series right before the end of 2018? Well, with the highly-anticipated “Choose-Your-Own-Adventure” episode/film ‘Bandersnatch.’

Earlier this year, it was reported that the folks behind ‘Black Mirror’ were working with Netflix on its latest technology that would allow viewers of the series to choose multiple outcomes for its episode. Viewers would have the power to make important decisions, which would greatly affect the outcome of the story, similar to the aforementioned “Choose-Your-Own-Adventure” books that were popular decades ago.
According to /Film (as well as Esquire), it’s all starting to come together with “Bandersnatch,” as we now have an idea for the storyline that will be presented and just how much footage was shot that will allow for quite a few variations on the episode.
The report claims that ‘Bandersnatch’ will star Will Poulter, Fionn Whitehead, and Asim Chaudhry with David Slade attached to direct and has the following synopsis:
“A young programmer makes a fantasy novel into a game. Soon, reality and virtual world are mixed and start to create confusion.”

And if you think that “Black Mirror” is just going to allow its viewers to choose different endings, you’re sorely mistaken. The report also claims that the episode will contain 312 minutes of footage (over 5 hours). This means that the episode/film will allow for many different storyline tangents that will probably leave “Black Mirror” fans watching, and rewatching, ‘Bandersnatch’ numerous times.
So, while everyone begins preparations for their New Year’s Eve celebrations, “Black Mirror” fans will probably stay in their crusty pajamas, with boxes of pizza in front of them, powering through every possible outcome and decision in ‘Bandersnatch.’ And if you ask us, that’s not a terrible way to ring in the new year.
“Black Mirror: Bandersnatch” is expected to hit Netflix on December 28.
