Listen Up, As*holes, The Red Band ‘What Men Want’ Trailer Is Here

Despite what his “Hacksaw Ridge” Oscar nod and appearance in the commercially successful “Daddy’s Home 2” might have you believe, Mel Gibson isn’t exactly in the good graces of everyone in Hollywood. His infamous misogynistic, racist, and anti-Semitic rants set back the former A-lister’s career pretty substantially for years, and there is still significant pushback against the comeback he appears to have already begun. That’s why it makes sense that in remaking Nancy Meyers’ “What Women Want,” in which Gibson plays a man who finds himself able to hear the thoughts of all the women around him.

Paramount has seemingly decided to distance themselves from Gibson as much as possible, giving us next year’s “What Men Want.” As the title implies, the film is a gender reversal of the original, with Taraji P. Henson gaining the ability to hear what men are thinking. You can read the synopsis and watch the new [red-band] trailer below.

“What Men Want”: Ali Davis is a successful sports agent who’s constantly boxed out by her male colleagues. When Ali is passed up for a well-deserved promotion, she questions what more she needs to do to succeed in a man’s world, until she gains the ability to hear men’s thoughts. With her newfound power, Ali looks to outsmart her colleagues as she races to sign the next basketball superstar, but the lengths she has to go to will put her relationship with her best friends and a potential new love interest to the test.

Famed choreographer and “Rock of Ages” director Adam Shankman takes the helm of the film, a notable departure from his musically-inclined filmography. Joining Henson are Aldis Hodge, Tracy Morgan, Richard Roundtree, and Wendi McLendon-Covey, with Shaquille O’Neal, Mark Cuban, and Pete Davidson making cameos.

“What Men Want” arrives in theaters on February 8, 2019, just in time for Valentine’s Day.
