Everything Is Awesome!: The New ‘The Lego Movie 2’ Trailer Drops

Everything is indeed awesome because the latest trailer for “The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part” is here and yeah, it looks kinda awesome.

Last year, we saw the release of two “Lego Movie” spin-offs. But now, we’re getting a sequel to the film that launched the whole franchise. The heroic everyman known as Emmett, voiced by Chris Pratt, will return to save the day. However, Emmett will put his heroic skills to a challenging test. He will face a new enemy who has kidnapped his fellow heroes. His rebellious girlfriend Wyldstyle, voiced by Elizabeth Banks, ends up being one of those in need of saving.

Alison Brie, Will Arnett, Charlie Day, and Nick Offerman are reprising their beloved characters as well. But two names joining the fun are Tiffany Haddish and Stephanie Beatriz who plays the mysterious villain Sweet Mayhem.

It seems that sequels often come with higher dramatic stakes. So, it’d make sense to have our main hero undergo a grander task than the previous one. It’s also an opportunity for Emmett to experience a personal growth. Usually, he’s carefree and oblivious to the issues going on around him. But now, he has a chance to really prove his heroic qualities.

Undoubtedly, the film will carry the same level of fun as the first one, though. Plus, when it comes to sequels to funny movies, it should possess more gut-busting laughs. A bonus is that Phil Lord and Chris Miller, the directors of the first film, are returning as producers.

Thankfully, because it doesn’t come out until next year, we don’t have to worry about it being snubbed this year for Best Animated Feature. The first film’s Oscar snub was a jaw-dropping shocker. But there won’t be much stress over reliving that shock.

“The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part” will be released on February 8th, 2019.
