Donald Glover & Director Hiro Murai Snuck Off And Filmed A Secret Movie With Rihanna & Letitia Wright

Is there anything we can tell you Donald Glover that would surprise you? Not only is he one of the biggest musical artists of the moment, but Glover is a jack of all trades and an accomplished writer-director-actor that is probably best known for his incredible FX series “Atlanta.” So, it really shouldn’t be any surprise that Glover just went ahead and snuck away to film an entire movie with one of the biggest stars in the world and no one had a clue.

Over the weekend, while performing at his Pharos festival, Glover, who also goes by the name Childish Gambino, surprised fans with an exclusive peek at an upcoming film called “Guava Island” (via GQ). Apparently, the film is already completely filmed and in post-production with director Hiro Murai aboard as helmer. Not only that, there’s even a trailer. Albeit recorded in a less-than-legal fashion by an attendee (which you can watch below).

As if a new film starring Glover and directed by Murai wasn’t enough to get you excited, the supporting cast looks to be truly incredible, with Rihanna (yep, as in the massive music star), Letitia Wright (fresh off “Black Panther”), and Nonso Anozie (who was recently seen in the new trailer for Disney’sArtemis Fowl”) along for the ride.

No synopsis or anything is officially available, but judging by the trailer, “Guava Island” looks to focus on a man (Glover) living in a Caribbean resort community, who is trying to make it as a musician but runs into trouble along the way. Rihanna looks to play his love interest in the film. “Guava Island” looks to carry that same ability that Murai and Glover have shown in “Atlanta” to ride that line between drama and comedy, with a dash of thriller thrown in for good measure.

Again, since there’s no official word on the film, there’s no release date at this time. But judging by the two-minute trailer, “Guava Island” is definitely a film we’ll keep an eye out for.
