Chris Rock To Direct Kevin Hart In New Comedy ‘Co-Parenting’ From ‘Girls Trip’ Producer
Ever since Chris Rock directed the (pretty good) film “Top Five,” fans have been wondering when the comedian would step behind the camera again. In recent years, Rock has kept a fairly low profile, starring in some forgettable Adam Sandler/Netflix films and some minor TV work, but it looks like Rock is about to come back in a big way, stepping behind the camera for an upcoming comedy starring Kevin Hart, according to Deadline.
The new comedy “Co-Parenting” stars Hart as a stay-at-home dad that finds himself trying to figure out his life, when his superstar CEO wife boots him from the house. Now, he must engage in a bitter custody battle and divorce, as we’re guessing hijinks ensue. Rock and Hart are joined by producer Will Packer, who has had a string of hits recently with “Girls Trip,” “Night School,” and the “Ride Along” films.

“Co-Parenting” sees the collaboration of Hart and Packer continue after the aforementioned success of “Ride Along (1 & 2),” “Think Like a Man (1 & 2),” “The Wedding Ringer,” and the recent “Night School.” If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it, we suppose.
In addition to his directorial gig on “Co-Parenting,” Chris Rock is also set to star in the upcoming fourth season of “Fargo,” which should begin production sometime in 2019 (though don’t hold your breath on that). Along with “Fargo,” Rock will be seen in the recently-wrapped “Dolemite Is My Name” co-starring alongside Eddie Murphy.
Hart’s next film will be the English-language remake of French hit “The Intouchables” titled “The Upside,” where he stars next to Bryan Cranston and Nicole Kidman. He also has the sequel to the mega-blockbuster ‘Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle” set to begin production soon.

No word on when “Co-Parenting” will be released, but we’re hoping that Rock can bring that skill he brought to “Top Five” and make the comedy rise above the current crop of mediocre PG-13 comedies.
